For safety reasons, it is not possible to change the look and behavior of the administration via CUTE.

Theming is applied in the system administration. Theming is highly flexible and is applied via one or more extensions.

Extensions define a set of customizations, ranging from a simple message box to a full-fledged theme for Confluence and JIRA. Extensions can be either created from scratch or imported as CUTE file. A good place to start theming with CUTE is to visit our Sample Extensions and download one of the provided example extensions.

You can then Create a new extension using the sample extension as template. This will allow you to edit the copy of the sample extension.

The sample extensions are intended as inspiration. They are not being updated with new Confluence and JIRA releases.

Extension Overview

The extension overview can be found in the administration > Manage add-ons > CUTE > Configure.

From the extension overview you can:

  • Get a brief overview of all installed and included extensions,
  • Add, edit, disable, remove, import and export extensions,
  • Create new versions of existing extensions,
  • Find useful links to our support center.

Creating a new Extension

  1. Go to the add-on Administration (e.g. Manage add-ons in Confluence).
  2. Choose CUTE and click Configure.
  3. Click the blue Create Extension button at the top of the page.
  4. Choose a name for the extension, a key and a template.
  5. Edit properties and resources to change the behavior of the extension.

You can find further details in Editing Extensions (v 1.4).

Extensions for Confluence Mobile

SINCE VERSION 1.4

To create an extension for Confluence Mobile, you need to start the version name with the following string:

CONFLUENCEMOBILE

Versioning Extensions (v 1.4) describes how to create a new version of an extension.

Please note that extensions for Confluence Mobile will only work there, extensions without the string will only work in the browser view. This means that you will have to create two extensions if you want to create an extension that works both in Confluence Mobile and the browser view.
